Young, talented and extremely original – Freida Pinto has always been in the news for all the right things. She is our first Friday Fashion Icon. Reasons are many!
Shot to fame with British drama film ‘Slumdog Millionnaire‘, this Mumbai girl traveled all the way to Hollywood and since then there was no looking back. Sushmita Sen being her inspiration since a very young age, Freida with her set of work & play on & off is worth all the attention and talk.
She definitely is not a typical-looking Indian-origin heroine and in fact adorns a very up-to-the-minute style statement. A brand ambassador for L’Oreal along with Aishwariya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, one of Vogue’s ‘Top 10 Most Stylish Women‘ in 2009 and the face for GUCCI video for a social cause in 2013 – this lady is all out there making her presence felt.
Although she hasn’t shown a green flag to any Bollywood script yet, back in her home ground and all over the globe she is more of a fashion icon to look forward to. Recently, she stunned everyone with her eclectic look from Chanel Pre-Fall Collection 2014-15 featuring a ruffled crop top teamed with a tiered long skirt with Indian-inspired prints. The look could have been a disaster, but this lady knew how to perfect it with a low frame bun, a fairy head band and a blocked simplistic clutch to go with it.
That’s just a bit. At the 100th Annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, she became a shutterbugs fav in a custom Thakoon metallic duchesse silk cut-out gown (much like Indian designer Gaurav Gupta‘s sensational golden sari gown). Her love for Indian designs and fashion sensibilities could be spotted at her appearnces at the Plan International Deutschland 25 Year Celebrations in Hamburg, Germany, where she wore a Pankaj & Nidhi dress following an indo-chic sari gown look by Anamika Khanna at the Gstaad Annual Weekend in Switzerland.
Also, off the hook, when she is on her own – her style report card scores even better. She keeps it chic, simple and classy. (courtesy: her off-from-the hotel glimpse in Ella Moss Pants, where prints partied really hard)
The more we look at her, the more she gets us rolling. For now, we take a bow as we leave you with a young fashion brigade, who can give you lessons & a lot of inspiration for the times to come.
