“I work very hard and I’m worth every cent” – Naomi Campbell
The undisputed queen of sophisticated glamour, Naomi Campbell is ‘the supermodel’ of a generation. Be it super-glam or cool and casual, regal and restrained or playful and flirtatious, Naomi has set the fashion industry ablaze with her splendid sense of style. Whether on the ramp, red carpet or the streets of Jodhpur – this leggy lady always gets it right. Even if it’s a sari, a gorgeous gown or a dress, she carries it all off effortlessly. There’s something so ethereal about her aura that leaves most, re: everyone, mystified.
Campbell was an unstoppable force majeure, with a notorious roster of celebrity boyfriends, a record deal, a novel, even her own special-events agency. Every person’s favorite fantasy, Naomi first appeared in Vogue in 1987, since then she has been on British, French, Russian Vogue and TIME Magazine covers. The British Bombshell’s ground breaking career landed her campaigns for Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino and in the domain of top runway designers including Christian Dior and Versace. Naomi continues to be a formidable force in the world of fashion, and has used her success to establish herself as an entrepreneur with her show ‘The Face’.
When Naomi walks the ramp, it makes us wonder if we will ever see that ravishing sight again! Closer to home, Naomi made her Indian runway debut for designers Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra with Lakme Fashion week in Mumbai, 2009. It was a ramp walk in conjunction with Naomi’s “Fashion for Relief” initiative to raise money for medical services in light of the deadly terrorist attacks. She has attended many prestigious events in our very own esteemed designer’s outfits such as Tarun Tahiliani and Manish Arora.
Again in 2012, we witnessed the best of Naomi in demure Indian outfits, looking gorgeous as ever! Royal India was the fashion flavor at Naomi Campbell’s parties for boyfriend Vladimir Doronin’s 50th birthday in Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur. She was spotted flaunting Manav Gangwani and Manish Malhotra saris and received Twitter love from both the designers!
Belated Happy Birthday, Naomi! Age is just a number and we think 44 makes you look even younger!
