From an unconventional beginning with her first Bollywood movie Dev D to a transformed prim and proper fashonista in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – French born Kalki is hard-to-miss through and through. For us, she defines what out-of-the-box could really mean for an Indian actress. This Friday, we call it Kalki!
With only a few years in Bollywood, she has already made her presence felt with some edgy performances. Did we mention Kalki just bagged an amazing 10-page spread in the French edition of Vanity Fair’s June issue, wearing Sabyasachi and Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla. FYI, she looks absolutely mesmerizing! See for yourself.
While her choice of work goes far from typical, her personal style is worth following too. Personally she loves ‘high-street fashion’ and prefers not to over-think about her style. So, whether she is wearing a gown, a saree or a dress – she keeps it understated and close-to-comfort.
Not many people know, but Kalki has a hidden talent when it comes to bargaining and is often spotted street shopping. Even though her style exudes a laid-back effortless approach, she still manages to look all glam and chic every time a camera catches her.
Also, the face of French Vodka brand, Grey Goose, she thinks her French connection comes across strong in her personal style. Peep in her wardrobe and you will find classic pretty dresses, elegant evening wear, easy-going crop tops and polished brogues. In an interview with an online publication, she was quoted saying “I really like Gaurav Gupta. I love Nimish Shah and Preeti S. Kapoor. Sabyasachi doesn’t need a push but he’s one of my favourite designers. From Delhi, there’s also Nida Mahmood, who I really like.”
Apart from her many brand associations and high-on-fashion appearances in India & abroad, she is also one of the very few actresses who is constantly doing her bit to spread awareness about issues close to concerning the society, especially the issue of support. She became the face of many social message-giving short videos which went viral and caught a lot of attention on social media.
Kalki is a true fashionista who effortlessly blends the best of the east & west when it comes to her sense of style. Here’s to this week’s Fashion Icon, Kalki Koechlin!
