India Couture Week 2014 has left us pretty mind blown. With never before seen design aesthetics on display, we can’t decide what we love most! Oh, and the best part is that Couture Week isn’t even over yet! We just couldn’t help ourselves but share what we’ve already fallen in love with while we wait with bated breath for the remaining designers to showcase their 2014 couture collections!
What happens when a crop top, stunning embroidery, darker hues & the classic lengha silhouette come together? A brand new bridal look that we have completely fallen in love with. We were mesmerized by Kangana Ranaut as she closed for the designer in a GORGEOUS intricate crop top lengha. Attending a friend’s wedding? Take your pick from any of these stunning outfits! Dhoti pants with an asymmetric kurta may just be our new favorite silhouette ever.
A collection that genuinely left us in a state of “I need all of this right now”, needless to say we were kind of (completely) mind blown. Fiery reds, molten gold, luxurious lavenders, crisp whites & dark blues were some of the key hues seen in this collection. The master of sari gowns has outdone himself with this collection – we saw some pieces that left us utterly & completely at a loss of words. Mermaid gowns, intricate jackets and even a floral gown were highlights of the night. With so many incredible options to choose from, we literally, actually wanted them all. (PSA: You can shop this entire collection here!)
Where do we begin? Vibrant colors, kaleidoscopic designs and exquisite embellishments left all us couture lovers speechless. A range of silhouettes that varied from emerald green to fuchsia paired with gold & pearl embroideries created couture looks that we’ve never seen before. Lavish crown-like headgear finished every look and ensured every ensemble came together in the most royal fashion, truly transforming any bride into a walking work of art.
With a collection that celebrates the sartorial tastes of the modern Indian woman, Varun Bahl reinvented Indian-wear staples with innovative takes on traditional silhouettes. Delicate silver work on pristine white anarkalis & lenghas elevated Indian bridal couture to a new level. Gold & beautiful, this couture collection left us wanting more & more.
And, the bride wears leather! Even though there were numerous gorgeous pieces at this show, what really caught our attention was Lisa Haydon in a never-before-seen leather lengha skirt. Completed with beautiful gold embroidery, this innovative take on the traditional lengha is definitely something we’re keeping our eyes on this season!
A collection that expressed the designer’s love for all things ivory, Rohit Bal Couture 2014 is the perfect amalgam of bridal couture & understated occasion wear. Beautiful blends of cream and gold on stark white traditional ensembles created the perfect canvas for luxurious bridal jewelry. A pure fashion extravagance, this couture collection redefined traditional bridal glamor.
