With the news of India couture week making the rounds, we cannot wait for the new season to begin!
We at Exclusively bid time by listing our favorites from last year.
Manish Malhotra is the designer who has dictated the route of modern elegance with his glamorous designs, since decades. He was amongst our favorites last year for his elaborate couture designs that featured vintage gold detailing and ivory thread-work. Bollywood favorites Alia Bhatt walked for the designer extraordinaire last year.
Last year Sabyasachi weaved a regal tale with his couture show that was inspired by the idea of juxtaposing the new age couture with the old world luxury. The outcome was an ethereal collection that featured Sabyasachi’s signature style. We cannot wait for the designer to open this year’s couture week as he collaborates with Christian Louboutin.
Anju Modi’s collection last year was as breathtaking as ever with dramatic Indian music creating the desired ambience. The collection captured everything Anju Modi has stood for- elegant ethnic wear featuring traditional silhouettes and hand woven embroideries.
Inspired by the sensual Greek goddess Nyx, Gaurav Gupta’s Couture show was the amalgamation of everything this design house has stood. With an ethereal white stage set for the show, the models did not look any less than goddesses walking down with Avant Garde designs that had bold cutouts and luxurious embroideries.
Varun Bahl in his couture show last year, de-constructed traditional wear to create modern versions of Indian staples for his couture show last year. Working with fabrics like bubble crepe and Byzantine woven mask this collection featured flowing anarkali’s with intricate thread. Varun also introduced the sari-pant in this collection.
