‘The Mahal’ by Shantanu and Nikhil

Designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil presented their Autumn/Winter ’15 Bridal Collection titled ’The Mahal’ which transports us to the grandeur of the royal days of Rajasthan.

The collection is inspired by Jodhpur’s famous Mehrangarh Fort, its grand architecture, culture and royal glamour while being young, dynamic and elegant. The silhouettes showcased were: gowns, crop tops, lehengas and leather bodices – strong, structured and sophisticated with a flow and fluidity to them, drawing inspiration from the royal architecture and the deserts of Rajasthan. The use of dupattas was unique in the way they were wrapped showcasing a different style of wearing dupattas. The menswear collection included printed bandhghalas, fitted pants and churidars. The colour palette contains hues of browns, beiges, metallics like silver and gold and other earthy tones accompanied with hints of teal blues and shades of red showing the rich and divine culture of old Rajasthan.

Drawing their further inspiration from Sheesh Mahal, the designs contain intricate layers of laser cuts, inspired motifs which were brought to life by the use of Swarovski Crystals. The accessories were luxurious and no less than the clothes. Headgear was used to match the ensembles and clutches were also used.

The Mahal transports you back to the royalty of old Rajasthan while Shantanu and Nikhil also add a twist to present a modern and contemporary bride.
