Inspired by South India and its clothing – the motifs, jewellery, fabrics and draping, the designers showcased their traditional South Indian collection blended with contemporary Indian style wear.
The atmosphere of the venue and ramp was kept traditional as chandeliers made from Mogra flowers hung from the ceiling. The show started off with a Kuchipudi Dance performance performed by Yamini and Bhavana Reddy choreographed by Raja and Radha Reddy.
Bright colours graced the runway consisted of Lehenga Cholis and saris in fabrics of organza, french net and heavy use of silk with appliqué temple motifs, hand embroidered motifs with delicate borders. Embroideries and the borders were infused with semi precious jewels and temple jewellery patterns.
The intense and bright colour palette included colours like blue, red, beige, pink, orange, green, black and gold.
The use of jewellery was quintessential to the collection and added the rich south indian flair to it. Typical south indian jewellery like heavy neck pieces, mang tikas, bangles, earrings and belts were used to complete the bridal looks.
At the end of the show, Kathak dancers surrounded the stage for the final lineup.
Ashima & Leena’s collection presented a beautiful show and collection with flair, drama and brought us the south indian bridal style. This beautiful bridal collection is now available off the runway on Exclusively.com
