In many ways New York Fashion Week set many unprecedented benchmarks be it the new names, the disruptive technology, the wearable technology previews, unconventional runways et al.
Of special note was Ricardo Tisci’s show for Givenchy dedicated to 9/11 with an opening act by artist Marina Abramovic, Kanye West’s return to NYFW with the second edition of his Yeezy collaboration with Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger’s beach recreation with a Runway that was all water and models frolicking about in bikinis and Zac Posen’s werable technolgy diffusion line in collaboration with Google. 2. Apple x Fashion | Trending Collaborations
There is no matching innovation that Apple continues to come up with. And the fact that they have managed to seamlessly tie it in with fashion with their two recent collaborations is just another notch in their industry pioneers kitty.
Earlier this week Apple launched a stylized version of their earlier apple watch with luxury label Hermes – the aim being to appeal to the increasingly fashion minded audience. Going by the promotional campaigns, they seem to be succeeding. Also the Hermes apple watch will be soon launching in India, going by the rumors! (We will be sure to let you know when that happens)
In other news, Burberry launched a dedicated music channel on Apple music. The Burberry channel will sit in the Curators section of the Apple Music service and showcase Burberry’s unique collaborations with emerging and iconic British artists, featuring performances, songs and films alongside regular playlists celebrating great British musical talent past and present. A channel we will be subscribing to for sure!
3. Designer Turned Photographer | JJ Valaya Returns With Decoded Paradox
The couture maestro, JJ Valaya has made a name for himself in the photography circles with a hugely successful debut exhibition titled ‘Decoded Paradox’ a couple of years ago, followed by a limited edition coffee table book. My photography is about narrative and composition, than about technique. It’s my alter ego at play.”
His inspiration is the many facets of Delhi following his 22-year-old relationship with the city. JJ Valaya’s exhibition of photographs will be on display from the 18th of September up until the 20th of October at the Threshold Gallery as part of Revisiting Beauty, a series of exhibitions hosted by the gallery examining various notions of beauty.

5. The Next Gen Fashion Week | London Fashion Week SS16
After NYFW, the fashion world turned their attention to London, where London Fashion Week SS16 started on 16th September. What everyone looked forward to, apart from the shows of course, was how the newly appointed LFW venue of Brewer Street Car Park in Soho will hold up to the illustrious Somerset House, the LFW address for many years now. Going by the news so far, the new venue has fared well indeed, lending an edgy young vibe to complement the New Gen collections, something LFW is famed for.
Of special note on what is to come ahead is the continued social media disruption by Burberry, where they will debut their new collection on snapchat just minutes after it’s runway preview and a disruptive trend forecasting collaboration between TopShop and Pinterest – Pinterest Palettes, offering customers to custom create wardrobes based on the LFW trends as seen on the runway (Read here for more on this).
