New York Fashion Week
It has been the epicenter of the rise of masstige fashion (think Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren & Michael Kors), the new wave of democratic fashion (Opening Ceremony, Public School et al) and a commercial playground for fashion-technology-music-sports collaborations. Milan Fashion Week
Taking cues from a heritage of fine Italian tailoring and artisanal craftsmenship and stripping of the extraneous, Milan Fashion Week is all about the core element: the design of fashion design. With the biggest labels showcasing their collections, one couldn’t expect less. What makes it additionally exciting is the new creative direction these big names are undertaking with dynamic young designers taking on the helm of century old labels.
