Exclusively at AIFW SS ’16: Day 3

Day 2 at AIFW explored the many facets and moods of modern Indian fashion – from Pallavi Mohan’s ‘Not So Serious’ kaleidoscopic kitsch, Hemant & Nandita’s modern ‘Summer of 69’ and Anand Bhushan’s tennis pret to Samant Chauhan’s Rajput couture, Payal Pratap’s 50s inspired romanticism and Ashish Soni’s playful menswear inspired womenswear, it was all about celebrating the uniqueness of the Indian sartorialists (read full review here).

Day 3, in turn, was a style revelation for the attendees with a diverse mix of SS’16 collections reflecting coming of age of Indian design sensibilities – moving away from the more is more trend to more and less reinterpreted in novel ways for individualistic style statements.

The day started with a Spring-Summer 2016 Global Trends Talk by WGSN – world’s leading fashion trend forecasting service, specifically focusing on seasonal forecast themes relevant for Indian consumers. Catriona Macnab (WGSN Chief Creative Officer), spoke about the macro and micro trends for SS16-17 seasons, from deep sea inspired color palettes, return of the pastels and florals in a new avatar to dominance of sheer accents and artisanal handlooms. We for one, were certainly inspired to go shopping right away for our summer wardrobes, never mind the approaching winters! Stay tuned as we break down SS16-17 trends for you here.
