At the 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards held on Friday, Anju Modi won the Best Costume award for her brilliant work on the Bajirao Mastani wardrobe. Amidst much applause and fanfare, the designer humbly accepted the award expressing what a delight it was to have designed for the movie. The designer later tweeted that she was “estatic to receive the award”.

Anju Modi had spent immense time, effort and creativity in conceptualizing and designing the looks for the three lead roles. The end result was spectacular and truly lent authenticity and credibility to the characters, bringing them to life in the eyes of the audience. The detailing, the intricacy and historic/contextual relevance of the ensembles went a long way in transporting the viewer back to 16th century India.
