India Fashion Week Day 1 Round Up
Day 1 at India Fashion Week kicked off with the opening show of Varun Bahl and staying true to his signature style we saw lot of blacks, metallics, glitterbombs and dark florals. Floral layering’s and embellishments created a dream world amidst a tropical forest. Metallic details with designer’s signature ethereal floral motifs recreated an enchanted forest at the AIFW with a grand opening show.
Hemant & Nandita’s showcased bohemian silhouettes in romantic blush tones and reds. The collection seemed to be inspired by deep and dark beauty namely, “A Dark Enchantress”. Statement accessory detailing & embroidered bomber jackets in pop color accents were some head turning fashion statements we loved. An abundance of dark blooms, golden foil (shimmer) and boho silhouettes, soft wavy hair and dark bold lips seemed to be the hottest trend.
Pallavi Mohan’s collection “Synthesis” celebrated the beautiful handcrafted techniques. Featuring an impressive ‘Not So Serious’ and beautiful play between textures, deep muted colors, applique art, fringes and criss-cross weaves.
Kiran Uttam Ghosh’s collection featured sarees, capes, dresses in deconstructed silhouettes and feminine drapes in shades of reds and golds and oodles of elegance were all a part of this splendid collection.
Rina Dhaka’s collection was an eclectic one with the sparkles taking over the woollens in geometric accents and modern chic silhouettes in the hues revolving around browns, blacks and whites. If this is what she has in store for us, the winter of ’16 sure looks promising!
Akaaro’s collection featured handwoven silhouettes in dark and muted colors with bright color accents. The collection featured geometric inspirations with feminine yet contemporary silhouettes and handwoven, striped, thread stitched accents. Lots of metallics and blacks blended with contemporary silhouettes were some the sartorial statements that we absolutely loved.
Shantanu Nikhil “The Last Walk” collection was full of romantic blush tones and reds. Gorgeous silhouettes and sculpted gowns with hints of drapes & laces, fused with intricate layers of laser cuts were the elements that made the show a fabulous hit. The bride at the show wore a white sculpted gown detailed with unusual drapes and lots of elegance were all a part of this romantic collection.
Gaurav Gupta closed the day with his show and his signature style designs at the India Fashion Week. He showcased a collection that was all about full blown unmatched glamour. Sequins, bugle beads, sparkle and all things glitter took over the ramp and it was all sexy! Dramatic drapes were juxtaposed with his signature structures in a dreamy palette. Sexy and sensual, it was all that we saw at the saw!
